Providing additional space and a low operational carbon building to improve creative facilities at Lincoln's Priory Academy LSST.

Lindum Group has successfully delivered a new school arts and drama block for The Priory Academy LSST in Lincoln. The project was delivered on time and on budget, through our Construction framework.

Representatives from Lindum and SCAPE were given a tour of the recently finished arts and drama facility, which was the first project to start on site through the latest iteration our Regional Construction framework last year.

Dedicated to creating efficient and sustainable buildings, which create a positive local impact, projects delivered through the framework are enhancing communities across the Midlands and the East of England.

"The SCAPE framework guarantees a streamlined, hassle-free, and value-for-money process for any major development."

Andrew Graves

Capital Projects Manager, The Priory Federation of Academies Trust

“We know from experience that a partnership with Lindum will ensure a delivery, which is on time and of the highest quality – and the new block at LSST is yet another demonstration of that service,” he concluded.

"This project is testament to the benefits procuring work through frameworks can bring. We were able to get this project off the ground quickly by using SCAPE, which means we have been able to design and build the entire £2 million project from start to finish in well under a year."

Enhancing project outcomes with SCAPE

As the project was accelerated through our regional construction framework, Lindum was able to begin work on site at the earliest opportunity, maximising Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).

This collaboration at an early stage enabled the school's Trust, The Priory Federation of Academies Trust, to get input and advice from Lindum on the design, ensuring that it delivered the best outcomes for them, the building's end users and the surrounding community, whilst also future-proofing it.

This early engagement and ongoing discussion was key to the new space being designed, built and operational in well under a year.

The framework also mandates we hit certain targets to ensure a positive impact on the local community during construction – a value we share as a local construction company.

Social value and sustainability outcomes

As well as the delivery of a fantastic new facility, the project also generated social value and sustainable outcomes for the benefit of the local community:

  • Almost 80% of the labour on site was sourced from within 20 miles, engaging local businesses and supply chain partners
  • Lindum had at least one apprentice on site for nearly half of the project, supporting the development of local skills and future talent, and playing its part in addressing the skills gap
  • More than 12,000 miles were saved through car sharing schemes, which equates to 3.37 metric tons of carbon - the equivalent of a return flight from Manchester to America.

"We are delighted that the new arts and drama block has now opened, providing fantastic additional space for students to use. By accelerating this through our construction framework, the trust was able to engage Lindum very early on, working closely at every stage to ensure the design, delivery and value created for the community were exactly what was needed."

Long-term collaborative partnership

The Priory Federation of Academies Trust – which runs 12 academies in Lincolnshire and Leicestershire – first used our frameworks five years ago, during which time Lindum was also a delivery partner on the previous iteration of the Regional Construction framework.

With the completion of the new block for the LSST, Lindum have now successfully completed 26 projects for the Trust via SCAPE.

Through this long-term relationship, we have been able to get to know the Trust and their vision for their estate, and been able to support them as a strategic advisor as well as a service provider through our delivery partners.

This in turn has helped Lindum to support the client in realising their ambitions through buildings and educational facilities, helping to make sure that projects and designs maximise value for money and benefits to the local community as a result.
