Two SCAPE frameworks support delivery and collaboration of Hertfordshire Constabulary HQ Project

A new £55m police headquarters for Hertfordshire Constabulary, designed to set new standards in security, officer wellbeing and tech-enabled sustainable facilities, has been completed on time and on budget in Welwyn Garden City.

Delivered through both the SCAPE Consultancy Framework and the SCAPE Construction Framework, the project brought together key partners, including Perfect Circle, which appointed the consultancy firm Pick Everard to support the design, and Willmott Dixon, which delivered the construction works.

Built on the site of the former headquarters, the new four-storey, 9,750 sq m facility consolidates a range of services and departments under one roof, including the major crime unit, victim services, dog unit, senior leadership team and operational support staff. Replacing five outdated buildings, the single, purpose-built headquarters provides a modern, future-ready workplace for around 900 officers and staff.

Reflecting our strong commitment to sustainability and delivering lasting value, the development incorporates a range of environmentally conscious features, including heat recovery units, solar panels, and sustainable drainage systems. The building is on track to achieve both WELL Platinum and BREEAM Excellent certifications, placing it among the highest-performing buildings of its kind in the country, recognising its focus on creating a welcoming, efficient and healthy workplace.
