Construction frameworks
Better for our environment
SCAPE’s Chris Clarke and Hilary Carter discuss how the new Construction framework will help our environment.
As UK parliament and over three hundred local authorities declare a climate emergency, we are facing an environmental crisis. Action is urgently needed from every part of the construction industry.
That’s why our new SCAPE Construction framework has been designed to help you deliver your climate action aspirations. With carbon reduction at the heart of every project, we’ll support you to deliver objectives that address the climate emergency.
We know our public sector clients are trying to respond to what’s happened during Covid, we know our public sector clients want to respond to the climate emergency - we think our construction frameworks can give you a better way to do that

performance and improvement director, SCAPE
Together we can cut carbon emissions and protect the environment
The next-generation SCAPE Construction framework is net-zero ready. Our contractors have been selected because of their carbon literacy and demonstrable ability to meet environmental targets.
Carbon measurement and benchmarking is standard on all projects delivered through the framework and we’re integrating innovative, pioneering solutions to meet these targets, whilst our procurement and project standards are built on LETI net-zero design guide and RIBA 2030 climate challenge principles.
Innovation in working processes
We’ll integrate technology and practical innovation in a way that really benefits you.
All of our projects utilise BIM (ISO 19650) and we take a “digital as standard” approach, using Docusign and digital contract exchange to accelerate paperless contracts, saving you time and reducing carbon outputs.
Via the framework, our delivery partners will incorporate new and emerging technology to deliver your projects innovatively and to net-zero targets. What’s more, they’re all carbon literate contractors and are compliant with PPN 06/21, with Carbon Reduction Plans in place.
Now and for the future
Net-zero is about more than reducing the amount of carbon created to deliver a project or building. That’s why we now include a lifecycle contract form in the SCAPE Construction framework, specifying performance objectives for the full life span of an asset in both new build and retrofit projects.
This new feature works to validate your business case for low carbon buildings and address the historic performance gap between design aspiration and in-use performance of assets.
Making net zero a reality
We believe that there is a better way to build, with places and spaces designed to address the climate emergency. We believe that by acting in unison, a net-zero carbon future can be made a reality.
Our SCAPE Construction framework brings you together with delivery partners to make this ambition a reality.
Together, we can enable lasting change.
