Kier has been appointed by Slough Borough Council through SCAPE Construction to deliver a new £3m project that includes the remodelling and extension of the community building in Britwell, Slough, to include a new GP surgery.

The project is being jointly funded by NHS England and will transform two existing buildings into one modern and fit-for-purpose building.

The 911m2 building will provide an integrated approach to treating patients, with consultation rooms as well as spaces to carry out minor procedures. Kier starts on site this month and the work is set to be complete in February 2022.

We are proud to be delivering this important new GP centre for the Britwell community. When complete, it will provide first-class facilities that will enable the GP's staff to effectively cater for, and treat the needs of its patients.

Louisa continued, "Over the course of this project, we will work with our local and skilled supply chain partners and provide job and training opportunities for residents of Britwell as we look to leave lasting legacies in areas in which we work."

The Avenue Medical Centre has been providing an excellent service to Britwell residents for many years and it is rightly held in high esteem locally.

Sangeeta Saran, Director of operations, Slough Place for NHS Frimley Collaborative

Sangeeta continued, "Unfortunately its current home is simply too small to provide all the range of services we want to provide in a local and convenient setting; particularly due to the level of need in the Britwell area.

This project will revolutionise local health services for Britwell residents, support those same residents with community health services, voluntary and council services together, working together, closely both physically and in an integrated way for the benefit of the local area and all those who live there.”

“Over the last year the NHS has shown everyone in the UK what it is truly capable of, even when faced with significant resource gaps.

Mark Robinson, group chief executive at SCAPE

Mark continued, "The addition of the Britwell GP Hub will enable Slough Borough Council to future proof its services, adding a fantastic asset and much welcomed local asset to its healthcare services. The team at Kier have vast experience in delivering facilities of this nature, working rapidly, safely and in a way that minimises disruption. At SCAPE, we’re proud to play a part in accelerating the delivery of this important healthcare facility, so that the community can benefit from the next generation services and extra capacity that the Hub will offer."

This appointment builds on Kier’s expertise within the healthcare sector, with other projects being delivered within the region including the £98m transformation of Heatherwood Hospital for Frimley Health NHS Trust.
