Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
As part of our ongoing journey to improving diversity and inclusion at SCAPE, we have been working with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) to develop new commitments to make the industry more reflective of our communities.
The launch of the charter coincides with the CIOB's latest report; Diversity and Inclusion in Construction, which shows the compelling business case for construction companies to embrace diversity. Sponsored by SCAPE and delivery partner Willmott Dixon, the report focusses on the issue of diversity and inclusion being one of vital strategic importance for construction business leaders right now, and it sets out the steps they need to take to get their organisations moving in the right direction.
Our communities are diverse, vibrant and inclusive, and having a workforce that reflects this is essential. This charter provides a framework for the industry to demonstrate clear leadership and SCAPE is honoured to have played a role in its development. We are committed to a people-first culture, and ensuring our industry is attractive, accessible and rewarding for everyone.”

Group Chief Executive | SCAPE
Reflecting SCAPE's values and our aspirations for becoming an employer of choice, as well as using the level of influence we have within the industry to encourage others to be more inclusive, the CIOB’s five-point charter is geared towards companies who may not previously have considered taking action on diversity and inclusion. It encourages them to make a pledge to take the first steps to doing so.
In conjunction with our Executive Leadership Team, our HR team are continuing to develop and progress a Diversity and Inclusion policy and strategy. We have, however, already started on our journey and have committed to:
- Raising awareness and continuing conversations on Diversity and Inclusion, particularly what this means for employees and the business.
- Challenging inequality and promoting inclusive practices and organisational culture to build and develop inclusion every day within SCAPE and with our clients, partners and the local community.
- Empowering people to be their true selves in the workplace, and feeling confident that they will be respected and supported.
