New Board Members for the UKGBC
The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) has confirmed the appointment of Mark Robinson and Tara Gbolade as new Board Members, following their election by members at the Annual General Meeting on 20th July 2023.
Both will join an esteemed group of leaders from across the industry who sit on UKGBC’s Board to help lead the transformation of the UK’s built environment to be net zero, climate resilient and regenerative.
Mark Robinson’s 28-year career across the public sector ranges from construction operations to strategic transformation and saw him become one of the sector’s youngest chief executives at 32. His leadership of SCAPE transformed their scale and impact across thousands of projects around the UK and will help to provide UKGBC with critical insights into planning, designing, and delivering a more sustainable built environment.
A co-founder of an award-winning architecture firm, Tara Gbolade won the Royal Institute of British Architecture Journal’s Rising Star Award in 2018 and currently serves as one of the independent Mayor of London’s Design Advocates. From wide-ranging expertise in sustainable design and planning policy to her experience as a steering group member of Architects Declare, Tara will undoubtedly make an immense contribution to UKGBC.
"I’m delighted that Tara and Mark are coming on board to help accelerate change across the built environment. Leaders of their calibre, imagination and expertise are absolutely critical to our mission of collaborating radically and deeply to resolve the challenges that we and the Earth’s ecosystems face in these existentially challenging times. I’m thrilled to be working more closely with both Tara and Mark towards the huge and incisive change we need to deliver buildings, communities, cities and infrastructure fit for a net zero, resilient and regenerative future."
- Smith Mordak, UKGBC Chief Executive
I am proud to have joined UKGBC, as Board Director and Trustee. The need to accelerate the pace of transformation in the built environment is rapidly increasing and UKGBC plays a vital part in lobbying central government, supporting policy development, and sharing best practice, all of which are essential to helping the UK achieve its sustainability ambitions. My role on the Board will strengthen SCAPE’s long-standing partnership with UKGBC and enable me to further support their drive for real, long-term, strategic change so that together we can build a carbon-first culture in the construction industry.

Alongside Tara and Mark, UKGBC’s AGM also confirmed the reappointment of Judith Everett, David Partridge, Sunand Prasad, and Victoria Quinlan to the Board.
"On behalf of my fellow Trustees, it is my pleasure to welcome Tara and Mark to UKGBC’s Board of Trustees. Both bring a wealth of experience and expertise to UKGBC’s Board. Their strategic counsel will be invaluable in guiding UKGBC’s ambitious programme of work over the coming, ever more critical years, and supporting our mission to radically transform the sustainability of the built environment."
