11 commissions secured across major UK ports in last 18 months, as SCAPE strengthens role in the maritime sector.

October marks 18 months since SCAPE launched its four new Utilities frameworks – two covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and two dedicated to Scotland. In that time, we are proud to have supported 11 significant commissions worth more than £300m of UK port developments.

Our utilities frameworks have enabled port operators and developers to accelerate vital infrastructure projects, with compliant and efficient procurement access to leading UK construction and consultancy partners.

With billions of pounds worth of marine, ports and harbour projects in the forward pipeline, frameworks like SCAPE are enabling projects to get on site faster and benefit from earlier delivery. This is achieved through:

  • Rapid appointment of partners
  • Early contractor and consultant involvement and engagement
  • Expert guidance from SCAPE and our frameworks partners at every stage of the project.

With 11 commissions and over £300m of investment already enabled, our utilities frameworks are proving vital in meeting the growing demand for accelerated, compliant and expert delivery.

Mark Kay, Head of Utilities Frameworks at SCAPE

Mark added: “Between April and July 2025 alone, Glenigan reported £362m of new port and harbour project starts, with over £1bn forecasted for the expansion of container ports around the country. Our utilities frameworks are helping to meet this demand by providing immediate access to globally recognised consultancy partners – Perfect Circle, Atkin Realis and Arcadis – ensuring expert involvement and engagement at every stage of project development.

"They also give clients direct access to highly experienced Tier 1 construction partners – McLaughlin & Harvey, RJ Mc Leod and Kier – bringing early contractor involvement to secure budget and programme certainty, accelerate delivery on site.

“We see huge opportunity to support further growth across the maritime sector in the years ahead.”

To further support the growing demand across the maritime sector, SCAPE is exhibiting at the British Ports Association Ports Conference in October as a Gold Sponsor.

Mark added: “The BPA conference is an exciting event and valuable opportunity to discuss policy development and help shape future project delivery. We look forward to connecting with delegates and offering advice on procurement, project delivery and infrastructure decisions.”

SCAPE will be exhibiting at Stand 27 on both 15 and 16 October. For more information, click here.
