Caroline Compton-James has more than 25 years’ experience, working across the built environment in both the public and private sector. She has held non-executive roles in local government and membership-based organisations and served as a school governor.
Supporting Mark Robinson, Group Chief Executive (GCE) for the SCAPE Group, Caroline is responsible for the strategic growth of SCAPE. The procurement specialist currently has a buying power of £21bn and is currently performance managing over 1,800 live projects.
Caroline is a strong advocate for creating value for the public sector, helping clients to enhance efficiency and build resilience. She works in close collaboration with clients from the outset to ensure they benefit from SCAPE’s Gold Standard approach to procurement and operational excellence, delivering value from the procurement process itself and through to project delivery.
Championing a strong organisational culture, Caroline is also committed to fostering an inclusive and motivated workforce across the Group.
Prior to SCAPE, Caroline held the position of Public Sector Director at Osborne. She also served as the Head of Construction at the Cabinet Office, collaborating with government departments to implement the Government Construction Strategy. Caroline began her career working in the Affordable Housing Sector.
