Balfour Beatty celebrates 100th SCAPE Civil Engineering project
Balfour Beatty is celebrating the completion of its centenary project procured through the SCAPE Civil Engineering framework; the A51 Tarvin Junction on behalf of Cheshire West and Cheshire Council.
The £7 million project saw Balfour Beatty deliver a series of major junction, carriageway and roundabout improvement works to reduce traffic congestion and increase capacity along the A51 corridor between Tarvin and Chester. To mark the completion, the team will plant 100 trees with Cheshire West and Cheshire Council, over the coming weeks.
Balfour Beatty has been the sole contractor on both the SCAPE Civil Engineering and SCAPE Scotland Civil Engineering frameworks for several years having first been appointed in 2015, working with over 40 public sector customers to complete 100 projects, valued at £530 million, on time and to budget.
Balfour Beatty has completed a wide range of notable schemes through the frameworks which have connected communities and helped local authorities unlock vital regional growth, including the construction of a new train station in Reading, the completion of a flood protection scheme in Perth and the delivery of a new bridge in Ebbsfleet.
In addition, Balfour Beatty has gone above and beyond to provide training and employment opportunities for thousands of people, £360 million of the project value was spent with supply chains within 40 miles of the project sites, 55,000 tons of waste has been diverted from landfill and numerous volunteering and fundraising schemes have been delivered; equating to £264 million of social value added to local communities.
This is an incredible milestone, one that is testament to the hard work and dedication of our expert employees, who work tirelessly every day to deliver first-class infrastructure projects.

Thomas continues;
“As a trusted partner, we look forward to working hand in hand with SCAPE as we build on the successes we have already seen through the framework and continue to deliver added social value for the communities in which we operate.”
“The strength of our partnership with Balfour Beatty has enabled the delivery of some crucial infrastructure projects with a focus on high-quality delivery. We are extremely proud to celebrate this milestone 100th project delivered through the civil engineering framework which has brought so many brilliant outcomes on social value and sustainability.”
